RIBA International Prize 2026: Bangladesh knocks it out of the park with Green Field Factory

Sprawling greens embracing a factory floor not as a forgotten ruin but as a living practice? Sounds unusual. Imagine factory workers taking breaks to hang out in the lawns and courtyards that remind one of the traditional old zamindari mansions of Bengal. In Bangladesh’s Rangpur, a seven-storey rug and textile factory has challenged the idea of how industrial designs can be reimagined.

The Green Field Factory of Karupannya Rangpur Limited, designed by Nakshabid Architects, was announced as this year’s winner of the prestigious RIBA International Prize on October 15.
