A 21-year-old engineering student fractured his leg and four others suffered minor injuries after part of the sound and lighting equipment collapsed during the pre-release event of actor Yash-starrer Toxic at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad on Saturday (August 22, 2026) evening.

The injured comprised two students and three labourers from nearby areas. Bhanu Prakash, a third-year engineering student, suffered the leg fracture, while the other four sustained minor injuries, including lacerations. All five were shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred while Yash was addressing thousands of fans who had gathered at the university for the event. The crowd had moved close to the stage despite repeated requests from police to maintain distance amid concerns over overcrowding.

A portion of the sound and lighting setup suddenly collapsed as Yash was speaking on stage. Videos from the venue showed some attendees climbing onto structures around the event area.

Yash stopped his speech after noticing the commotion and asked the organisers and police to check on those affected. He enquired about the students and continued after he was conveyed that the situation was under control.
