Robert Pattinson’s remarkable 2026 run continues with the release of the first teaser for Primetime, A24’s upcoming drama centred on To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen. The brief preview offers an unsettling glimpse of Pattinson as the veteran broadcast journalist, complete with an eerily precise recreation of Hansen’s voice and mannerisms.

The teaser closes with Pattinson delivering the line, “I’m Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC, and you’re about to be a part of television history”. Though the footage reveals very little about the plot, the actor’s transformation has already become one of the project’s major talking points.
Directed by acclaimed documentarian Lance Oppenheim in his narrative feature debut, Primetime is set in 2006 during the peak popularity of To Catch a Predator. The NBC series became a cultural phenomenon by following Hansen and law enforcement officials as they conducted televised sting operations targeting alleged sexual predators using undercover decoys.
The film appears set to examine the moral unease surrounding the show’s massive success and the controversy that followed. In 2006, one of the programme’s targets, Texas prosecutor Bill Conradt, died by suicide as police and the television crew arrived at his home, that cast a long shadow over the series.

Primetime also marks Pattinson’s first full feature-producing credit. The film co-stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers, who makes her feature acting debut.
The project continues Pattinson’s streak of ambitious collaborations following his acclaimed performance in The Drama earlier this year. His upcoming slate also includes Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, Netflix’s Here Comes the Flood, and Matt Reeves’ sequel to The Batman.
A24 will release Primetime in theatres this fall.
